IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING SEATING PLACEMENT FOR RETURNING MEMBERS

Dear RETURNING Youth Orchestra Members,
 
Please find below important information regarding Auditions & Seating Placement for students
returning to perform in the same ensemble as last year.  (Please check the section for your 
ensemble). If you have not already submitted your 2004-2005 membership application, please 
do so before September 17 so that we can arrange your music folder!  If you have any

String Ensemble (Ms. Swierczewska, Conductor)
The String Ensemble Conductor is requesting all RETURNING members of the String Ensemble 
schedule a "placement" hearing to determine section seating within the ensemble (e.g. first 
chair, second chair, etc.) during Formal Auditions on September 20 & 22, 2004 (next week).  
Since you have already played with the ensemble in the past, this hearing is not to 
determine acceptance into the program, but to place you within the ensemble.  The hearing 
will be based on the same audition guidelines and excerpts for your instrument, which can be 
found on the internet at www.gspyouth.org.
 
Concert  & Symphonic Youth Orchestras (Mr. Spaulding/Mr. Hollander, Conductors)
The Concert & Symphonic Youth Orchestra Conductors have recommended that you study the 
Audition Guidelines and Excerpts for your instrument in preparation for seating assignments 
at the first rehearsals, even if you are not required to take a formal audition.
 
The excerpts and audition guidelines can be found on the web-site at gspyouth.org or at the 
GSP Offices:  Located in the Ocean County College Continuing and
Professional Education Center at 150 Brick Boulevard in Brick.  Our offices are open from 9 
am to 3 pm, however, the excerpts ARE available at the reception window between the hours of 
9 am and 8 pm.
