"This operational grant, in addition to a grant received through the Southern New Jersey Staffing Assistance Initiative, allowing us to expand our professional staff, reflects a commitment made by the State of New Jersey to promote arts and culture locally. The state's financial assistance will help promote the Philharmonic's upcoming Five Star Season beginning with the opening night performance of Beethoven's Fifth on October 30 at the Strand Theater. This season also marks Artistic Director & Conductor Anthony LaGruth's 5th anniversary with the Philharmonic. Additional highlights of the season include A Holiday Pops Spectacular, scheduled for December 19, 2004 at Ocean County College Fine Arts Center, and the performance of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 on May 21, 2005.
